Staff Appreciation Luncheon

Hello Riles Families,
The school year is quickly coming to an end, and it’s time for us to celebrate and show our appreciation to our fantastic staff at Riles.
This coming Friday May 10th, the PTA will be hosting a catered staff appreciation luncheon.
We would like to involve you, by asking for some donations of desserts, drinks, utensils and plates.
Please see the Last Name chart, and have your student bring in the appropriate item corresponding with the first letter of your last name.
And thank you for assisting us with this well deserved luncheon. Dry goods can be brought in immediately; food items should be brought in on Thursday or Friday a.m.
Also, if you are available to help at the luncheon, please let the PTA know by emailing them at rilespta@gmail.com.

And lastly, don’t forget, the Riles PTA is hosting a FREE skate party next Tuesday May 14th at Roller King in Roseville from 6:30 to 8:30. Skating for the entire family is FREE, and all Riles students will get a meal voucher.
Flyers will be coming home this week (Flyer must be brought to the party for free entrance).

The student store is open at lunch today. If you were one of our 4 winners from yesterday's bulletin (Hanna Dhaliwal, Mariia Pitsul, Ruvim Lisetsky and Mustafa Oudeh, please come to the student store and you will receive your cookie and prize.
8th Graders- Friday is the last day to purchase your tickets for SunSplash. If you need a permission slip, there are extras in the office.
Attention All Track & Field Athletes - Please turn in your track jersey to either Mrs. Cook or Mr. Jordan as soon as possible.
Remember, get your Moving Up Party tickets at lunch in the multipurpose room. This is the last afterschool dance/activity of the year- DON'T MISS OUT.
This Friday's spirit day is Hawaiian Day. We will double up with a Spirit Rally on Friday as well. This is the last chance to earn spirit points for your second period class.

End of the Year Events - 8th Grade

Dear 8th Grade Students and Parents:
**Please mark these important dates on your calendar**
The 8th Grade Celebration will be on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the quad at Riles Middle School.
The 8th grade celebration takes place on a regular school day. The celebration will include each student being called to the stage to receive a certificate, student speeches, and recognition of our 4.0 and Honor Roll students. Students need to arrive at school at the normal time and report to their 1st period class at 7:55 a.m. Students with 3 or more Fs at the 4th quarter progress report and students who have been suspended in the 4th quarter may not participate in the celebration.
Each student meeting requirements to attend the ceremony will be given four tickets for admission. Only ticket holders will be admitted at 8:30 a.m., after which non-ticket holders will be admitted as room permits. The promotion celebration will conclude by 10:00 a.m. Tickets will be provided Tuesday, May 28th. Students are required to remain seated until the conclusion of the celebration. Students will follow our school dress code as this is a regular school day; hats are not allowed. At the conclusion of the ceremony, parents will be able to sign their child out for the remainder of the school day.
The 8th Grade Awards Night will be Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Riles Multipurpose Room. Individual students and families will receive an invitation to this event. Students that have been chosen by teachers for outstanding academic performance in each subject area and students that demonstrated outstanding citizenship throughout the year will be recognized. Also, our top female and male scholar/athlete will be announced.
The 8th grade promotion trip will be on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Sun Splash in Roseville. Admission, lunch and transportation are $30.00 for each student. Tickets may be purchased May 6th- May 17th, before school or during lunch in the main office. Students will need money for any other food/drinks. No food or drinks are allowed to be brought inside the park, and bags will be checked. Other schools may be there, but no public admissions will be allowed. Students must have at least 90 merits, no suspensions in the 4th quarter, and a minimum 2.0 grade point average to attend the trip. The last day to earn merits is Wednesday, May 1, 2013. In addition, all students must clear any outstanding debts prior to purchasing a ticket. Please complete and return the Field Trip Permission/Emergency Information form when purchasing a ticket for the event. Students will receive the permission form in their 2nd period class on Friday, May 3rd.
