Are organized and manage time well.
Have determination and work independently.
Have support at home to ensure work is completed.
Prefer working in a safe environment; free from negative influences and pressures.
Independent Study is best supported by families who:
Ensure student completes all assignments daily
Provide supervision to ensure quality schoolwork
Maintain monthly contact with Consulting Teacher
Review and sign all required documents
Ensure student work is properly organized
The enrollment process:
All new students must sit down with our academic counselor before officially enrolling in AVCS. Our academic counselor will go over transcripts, graduation requirements, and the expectations of an AVCS student. The results from this meeting will determine if a student qualifies for AVCS, and the program can accommodate the needs of the student.
Students with I.E.P.'s can attend AVCS IF we are able to accommodate their needs. If we cannot accommodate these needs, they will be asked to attend their home district school.
