Please consider our school if your student:

  • Wants a safe, intimate learning environment
  • Works well on his/her own
  • Wants to finish high school early
  • Has afternoon college classes or a job
  • Needs math or English tutoring
  • Needs credit recovery

Please do not consider our school if your student:

  • Has habitual attendance problems
  • Refuses to do classwork or homework
  • Doesn't work well independently

Our program description:

Antelope View is an independent study school serving grades 6 to 12. All our teachers are highly qualified - in fact, just as qualified as teachers at any other California public school. Our diplomas are no different than those of other California public high schools, and we are fully WASC accredited.

Through partnerships with local community colleges, students in our upper grades can simultaneously attend junior college. They can earn double credits and possibly graduate early! (Restrictions apply.)

Our computer lab is stocked with pro-grade software, including Microsoft Office, Photoshop and Illustrator. And while other schools are canceling their Regional Occupational Programs, ours remains in full effect.

Important points to consider:

The most important thing for families to know about us is that we are an independent study school. Before considering enrollment, you should understand:

  • All assignments must be completed, all the time. In independent study, there is no such thing as "missing work."
  • Absences are not tolerated. Our hybrid model requires attendance and punctuality. Students sign a contract agreeing they will attend all classes all the time.
  • Parental supervision and involvement is mandatory. Much work is done at home, and if parents cannot ensure the work gets done, students will fail!
  • We are not a "school of last resort." The state requires us to find other schools for students who refuse to show up or do their work.

Antelope View parent responsibilities:

  • Ensure student completes all assignments
  • Provide supervision to ensure quality schoolwork
  • Maintain monthly contact with Consulting Teacher
  • Review and sign all required documents

Antelope View student responsibilities:

  • Attend all instructional meetings
  • Complete all assignments to best of ability
  • Actively participate in the learning process
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Sign the Anti-Bullying Pledge (we have zero tolerance for bullies)

The enrollment process:

In our new Memorandum of Understanding, the following admission requirements are used:

(Prospective students must) demonstrate competency using standard assessment tools, including the ability to read and write within two grade levels of current placement, unless student is on an active IEP in either English or the student's native language, or other assessment tools available to the school counselor.

Demonstrate, on a standard assessment, the ability to solve basic calculations using the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division within two grade levels of current placement, unless student is on an active IEP, or other assessment tools available to the school counselor.

Also note that California Education Code Section 51745, part c,states:
No individual with exceptional needs...may participate in independent study, unless his or her individualized education program...specifically provides for that participation.

To determine if your student meets our enrollment requirements, we conduct short math and reading tests in our computer lab (see schedule below). Some students, such as those who have passed the High School Exit Exam, do not have to test. Call our office for complete details.

We also require a completed enrollment packet. The first part is available here for download:

There are additional documents needed, including shot records, transcripts, test results and withdrawal forms from your student's last school. Our office staff can assist you in collecting all necessary documentation. Please call 339-4690 to schedule a test and begin the enrollment process. We're confident your family will find Antelope View to be an excellent education choice!

Upcoming tests (no retests are allowed):

August 25, 1:30 PM
